4.6 Scientific collaboration
During 2006-2020, almost all institution categories increased their levels of international and national collaboration (Figure 4.6.1).
Most of the publications that are result of collaboration include ‘‘Universities’’ as one of the collaborating organizations. Strong collaboration network can be observed between ‘‘Universities’’ and ‘‘Public Hospitals, and ‘‘Universities’’ and "RC-GSRT" (Figure 4.6.2).
The number of Greek publications produced with international collaboration also increased (Figure 4.6.3).
The level and the type of collaboration –national or international- varied significantly within institution categories (Figure 4.6.4). "Universities" had the highest share of publications without collaboration, during the 5-year period 2016-2020. "RC-GSRT" had the highest share of publications with international collaborations. Finally, "Public Hospitals" had the highest share of publications with exclusively national collaborations.
Publications with national collaboration are publications produced as a result of collaboration between at least two Greek institutions, either of the same category (for example a publication produced as a result of collaboration between 2 Universities) or of different Categories (for example a publication produced as a result of collaboration between a University and a Private Health Institution).
